Warnings about synthetic opioid, isotonitazene, in Canada

The Canadian Community Epidemiology Network on Drug Use and the Newfoundland and Labrador Pharmacy Board have issued a warning about dangers from using drugs containing isotonitazene. The synthetic opioid can be stronger than fentanyl and has been identified in regions across Atlantic Canada. Administering naloxone can reverse an overdose from isotonitazene, but it may require several doses of naloxone to be effective.
