US state of North Carolina sues JUUL

North Carolina has filed a lawsuit against the makers of pod-based e-cigarette JUUL, claiming that the company has marketed its products to children and has misled users about the addictive nature of its products. The suit follows an investigation by North Carolina Attorney General Josh Stein who previously requested information on sales and marketing from JUUL. Stein claims that marketing practices target young people by using social media ‘influencers’ and through flavours and products that are designed to be popular with teenagers.
