US state of North Carolina seeks to outlaw patient brokering

North Carolina senate lawmakers are working on a bill to outlaw patient brokering in relation to addiction treatment. The practice of patient brokering involves third parties identifying people with drug use disorders and persuading them to enter treatment facilities, at which point the third party is paid by that facility.
