US state of New York issues guidance on cannabis in the workplace

New York state has published a frequently asked questions document to provide guidance on the application of the state’s Marijuana Regulation and Taxation Act (MRTA). Under MRTA, employers are not allowed to discriminate against an employee based on his or her cannabis use. The document outlines situations whereby employment action would, and would not, be legal.
