US state of Georgia legalises medical cannabis oil

The governor of Georgia, Brian Kemp, has signed a bill to legalise the production and sale of medical cannabis. Possession of medical cannabis has been legal in Georgia since 2015; however, with sale and transport prohibited, many patients have been unable to source cannabis-based medication. The new legislation also establishes licences for two universities to carry out research on medical cannabis, as well as a state commission to regulate and monitor the industry.
