US lifts restrictions on Malawi tobacco imports

The US government has eased restrictions on Malawi tobacco imports, allowing the Limbe Leaf Tobacco Company to export its products to the US. Restrictions were introduced in November 2019 following claims that tobacco leaf producers in Malawi used forced labour. US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) stated that it now has sufficient evidence to support Limbe Leaf’s claims that it does not use forced labour.
