US congress extends fentanyl enforcement legislation

The US senate has passed a bill to extend legislation classifying fentanyl analogues as Schedule I controlled substances. The original legislation was due to expire in May 2021 having been introduced in 2018 to enable federal agents to convict people involved in opioid trafficking.
