UK law firm alleges tobacco companies profited from child labour

A legal claim filed against British American Tobacco (BAT) and Imperial Brands alleges that both tobacco companies profited from child labour, worker exploitation and hazardous working conditions on tobacco farms in Malawi. Although the companies predominantly acquire tobacco leaves via third-party dealers, the claimant argues they were aware of the conditions faced by workers and had significant control over them.
