UK approves trials of DMT to treat depression

The UK Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) has approved research that plans to explore using dimethyltriptamine (DMT) to treat depression. The trial will be run by Imperial College London in collaboration with Small Pharma and will involve 32 healthy volunteers and 36 patients with clinical depression. Both groups will receive DMT alongside psychotherapy. The trial organisers are now in discussion with the Home Office whose permission must be granted for the trail to go ahead.
