Uganda opens clinic for people who inject drugs

Uganda has opened its first clinic for people who inject drugs. The clinic, based in Butabika National Referral Hospital, will run as a pilot scheme for 1 year before being rolled out across Uganda. In that first year the centre aims to treat 300 patients from across the country. The Ministry of Health has estimated that there are between 11,000 and 20,000 people who inject drugs in Uganda.
