Belgium has banned alcohol consumption on beaches along its entire coast. The ban is effective immediately and will remain in place until 30 September 2020. The new restrictions, announced by provincial governor of West-Flanders Carl Decalue, were introduced to address anti-social behaviour caused by people under the influence of alcohol. Fines of up to €200 (approx. US$237) will be given to people who violate the ban. Licenced beach bars will still be permitted to sell alcohol.
