Taiwan increases sentences for drug offences
Taiwan’s government has passed legislation to increase the penalties for possession and supply of illicit substances. The maximum penalty for possessing class A and B substances has now increased from NT$50,000 to NT$300,000 whilst those found selling those drugs will face fines of up to NT$30m for class A drugs and NT$15m for class B drugs. An extra 50% will be added to penalties where people are found to have sold illicit substances to pregnant women or teenagers.
