Singapore has made several changes to its Misuse of Drugs Act. The changes include treating behaviours that promote or facilitate drug use as criminal offences. From 1 August 2019 it became an offence to tell someone how to cultivate, produce, traffic or use illicit substances, with a maximum prison term of 10 years and a minimum prison term of 2 years for repeat offenders. The amendments also create a new offence of storing drugs within reach of children and introduce mandatory rehabilitation for people repeatedly testing positive for illicit substances.
