Scottish police trial roadside drug-detection kit

On 21 October 2019 police in Scotland launched a new roadside drug detection test that uses mouth swabs to identify whether drivers have used cannabis or cocaine. The new kit was launched alongside updated drug-driving laws in Scotland that lower the legal limits for drug detection. People testing positive will still be required to go to a police station to provide a confirmatory blood test.
