Scotland’s alcohol sales reach 26-year low

Public Health Scotland has announced that, in 2020, the amount of alcohol sold per adult fell for a third consecutive year reaching the lowest sales figures since 1994. The number of adults exceeding the safe weekly drinking guideline also decreased from 34% in 2003 to 24% in 2019; however, the figure is still higher than in England and Wales.
