Data from the Australian National Drug Strategy Household Survey 2019 indicate that, between 2016 and 2019, an increasing proportion of survey participants used illicit substances, including cannabis (10.4% to 11.6%), ecstasy (2.2% to 3.0%) and cocaine (2.5% to 4.2%). In 2019, nearly half of the teenagers who were surveyed said they had used an illicit substance at least once. The survey also indicated that a growing proportion of Australians supports cannabis legalisation and that 57% would welcome pill testing.
