Report estimates that 30,000 children and adolescents work for organised crime in Mexico

A report by the Inter American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) has estimated that 30,000 children and adolescents were used as a form of ‘disposable labor’ by Mexican criminal organisations in 2015. A survey of children in Mexico found that recruitment attempts by criminal gangs affected one-in-ten children. Children are often used to stand lookout, to transport drugs or to help with opium cultivation and production.
