Proportion of Australians who drink increases by 4%

According to the Roy Morgan’s Alcohol Consumption Report, there was a 4% increase in the proportion of people in Australia who drank alcohol in 2021. In the 12 months to June 2021, 69.7% of people aged over 18 said they consumed alcohol in an average 4-week period compared with 65.7 in the previous 12 months. The increase was mostly attributable to increases in the proportions of people consuming wine and spirits, with beer consumption appearing to remain steady.
