Nearly 5% of Nigerians report non-medical use of opioids
Nigeria’s National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) and the Centre for Research and Information on Substance Abuse (CRISA) have reported that 14.4% of respondents in a national survey had ‘abused drugs’ in the past 12 months. The most common drugs injected were pharmaceutical opioids, and 4.7% of those surveyed said they had used opioids for non-medical purposes in the past 12 months.
