McKinsey consultancy firm issues apology over work with Purdue

Consultancy firm McKinsey has issued an apology relating to its work with Purdue Pharma on OxyContin following revelations that the two companies had discussed ways to ‘turbocharge’ sales of the opioid painkiller. McKinsey said that whilst working with Purdue it “did not adequately acknowledge the epidemic unfolding in our communities or the terrible impact of opioid abuse and addiction on millions of families across the country”. McKinsey has now stopped consulting on opioid businesses and says it is cooperating with opioid related investigations.
