Malaysia drug seizures increase by 35% in 2020

The Malaysian Home Minister has reported a 35% increase in drug seizures during the first half of 2020 compared with the whole of 2019. Malaysia’s position near the ‘Golden Triangle’ area in Thailand, Laos and Myanmar presents considerable challenges to addressing the drug trade. Cannabis, methamphetamine, ecstasy, Erimin 5 and ketum leaves were among the most commonly seized substances.
