JUUL agrees $40 million settlement with US state of North Carolina

Vaping company Juul Labs Inc. has agreed to pay $40 million to settle a lawsuit with the US state of North Carolina. The lawsuit had claimed that JUUL products contributed to increased vaping among young people in the state. As part of the settlement, Juul Labs has also agreed that it will not advertise to anyone under 21 years old, including on social media, and that it will limit online sales to state residents. Juul Labs has also committed to limiting sales of its products to retailers with ID scanners that can check a customer’s age.
