Increases in drug overdoses and naloxone use in Northern Ireland
In Northern Ireland, the number of emergency callouts for drug overdoses increased by 47% between 2017 and 2019 to 1,494 calls per year. In the same period, ambulance services’ use of naloxone to reverse opioid overdoses increased by 40% from 628 occasions in 2017 to 876 occasions in 2019.
