Increase in taxes on cigarettes in Egypt

Egypt’s General Authority for Health Insurance has announced a 10% increase in taxes on all tobacco products, with profits being used to enhance medical services. The new tariffs will be introduced later this year (2021) and will see an increase of 25 Egyptian piasters per packet (approximately 0.01 GBP) every 3 years until an overall increase of 1.5 Egyptian pounds (approximately 0.07 GBP) is reached in 2027.
