Iceland begins public consultation for drug decriminalisation

A law to decriminalise personal use of illicit substances has been proposed by the Icelandic government.  If enacted, the law would mean that people found in possession of illegal drugs would be treated in healthcare rather than criminal justice settings. The move follows the introduction of a bill last year (2020) on providing harm reduction services in Iceland.
