Germany proposes raising legal age of alcohol purchase

Germany’s Commissioner on Narcotic Drugs at the Federal Ministry of Health has proposed raising the legal age for alcohol purchases from 16 to 18 years old. The commissioner has also proposed abolishing rules that allow young people to purchase alcohol in the presence of their parents and increasing restrictions on alcohol and tobacco advertising.
