Fatalities from adulterated alcohol rising in Costa Rica

The Costa Rican Ministry of Health has reported that, in recent weeks, 65 people in a single neighbourhood in San Jose were poisoned by methanol alcohol from consuming adulterated alcohol. Thirty of those cases were fatal. The ministry stated that the poisonings were due to consumption of the sugar cane alcohol known as guaro. To date, 16,000 bottles of adulterated alcohol have been confiscated in Costa Rica.
