Drug and alcohol treatment statistics for England

Data released by Public Health England (PHE) indicate that the number of people in drug and alcohol treatment in England remained steady at around 270,000 for the 12 months to March 2020. Just over half were receiving treatment for opiates and just over a quarter were in treatment for alcohol use. The number of people accessing alcohol treatment in England has declined from 91,651 in 2013/14 to 75,555 in 2019/20. The number of people accessing treatment for crack cocaine has continued to increase and is now 36% higher than it was in 2013/14.
