Drop in alcohol consumption among young people in Slovenia
The Slovenian National Institute for Public Health (NIJZ) has reported a decrease in alcohol consumption among young people in Slovenia. Data from the Health Behaviour in School-aged Children (HBSC) survey indicate that, in Slovenia, 71% of 15-year-olds and 86% of 17-year-olds have tried alcohol and that 27% of 15-year-olds and 52% of 17-year-olds have been drunk at least twice in their life. These data represent a decline in alcohol consumption among young people; however, levels of youth alcohol consumption still exceed international averages, with Slovenia ranking 11th among the 45 countries included in the HBSC survey.
