From 1 April 2020 excise duty on tobacco and alcohol products increased in Croatia meaning that the price of a packet of cigarettes went up by approximately HRK2 (approx. $0.29) and the price of alcohol by approximately HRK3 (approx. $0.43) per litre. The measure is targeted at spirits, with wine and beer excluded from the tax increases. The same taxes will also be used to increase the price of sugary drinks and will vary according to the amount of sugar they contain.
