COVID-19 vaccine made from tobacco leaves approved for human trials

A COVID-19 vaccine that has been developed by British American Tobacco (BAT) and that is made from tobacco leaves has been given approval for human trials by the US health regulator. Those trials are expected to produce results by mid-2021. The vaccine is being developed by BAT’s biotech arm, Kentucky BioProcessing.
