COVID-19 linked to increased cannabis sales in Canada and the US

Sales of recreational cannabis in Canada and in US states where cannabis has been legalised increased by around 50% between 16 March and 22 March as people prepared for COVID-19 lockdown measures. Many cannabis purchases were based on concerns about disruptions to global cannabis supplies as many international borders are closed. Sales of medical cannabis were 41% higher than in the same period in 2019.
