Bhutan lifts ban on tobacco products

Bhutan’s National Assembly has passed the Tobacco Control (Amendment) Bill 2021, lifting a ban on tobacco product sales, purchases, possession, distribution, and transportation. The new legislation is intended to reduce illegal cross-border trading and therefore to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Bhutan will, however, retain its ban on tobacco cultivation, production and manufacture.
