Almost 40% of Taiwanese vendors illegally sell cigarettes to young people

An investigation commissioned by the Taiwanese government has found that an estimated 37.1% of vendors across Taiwan are willing to break the law by selling cigarettes to young people. During inspections of 660 randomly selected businesses, young people were able to purchase cigarettes at 48% of the grocery stores and 21% of the supermarkets. The Health Promotion Administration (HPA) has said that it is now considering increased fines for vendors who sell cigarettes to young people.
