Almost 18% of Egyptians smoke

Egypt’s Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) has reported that, in 2020, 17.7% of Egyptians over the age of 15 were ‘smokers’. Prevalence of smoking among men was 35.6%, compared with 0.3% among women. The highest rates of smoking were among people aged 35-44 and 45-54 (22.5% and 23.2% respectively).
