Alcohol poisoning increases among young people in Spain

The Department of Health in Catalonia has reported an increase in weekly alcohol poisoning, with 79 people under the age of 30 admitted to hospitals in the region each week due to alcohol poisoning. Total mortality from alcohol in Spain has also increased with around 36,000 people dying each year from alcohol related illness and drink driving. Alcohol now accounts for 4.5% of Spain’s total mortality.
