A quarter of drug-related deaths in Northern Ireland involved heroin and morphine

The Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency has reported that heroin and morphine were involved in 25% of drug-related deaths in 2019. The total number of drug related deaths has more than doubled in the last decade, from 84 to 191. Heroin and morphine related drug deaths increased from 40 in 2018 to 46 in 2019.
